REAKMRT13 study

Description: To learn more about the characteristics of reactance and to distinguish it from the related construct of anger, we used functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). We asked participants to read and imagine being in freedom-threatening, anger-arousing, and neutral scenarios. Compared to the anger-arousing scenarios, the freedom-threatening scenarios activated a network of brain regions that look surprisingly similar to the mentalizing network.
