Neural Correlates of Political Identity Change: A Longitudinal fMRI Study

Description: This collection contains statistical maps from a longitudinal fMRI study examining how political identity shapes neural responses over time. Twenty-one participants watched the same political videos during two scanning sessions (2019 and 2021), conducted during a period of political instability in Israel. These data accompany the paper: Boiman, G., Ohad, T., Zvi, Y., Katabi, N., & Yeshurun, Y. (in press). Neural correlates of political identity change: A longitudinal fMRI study. Communications Psychology. Description of files: Files 1–3: Voxelwise correlations (uncorrected, p < 0.05) between changes in participants’ interpretations and changes in their neural responses. The three maps correspond to the three interpretation measures: i) General interpretation difference; ii) In-group vs. Out-group difference; iii) Ideology difference (Figure 4 in the paper.) Files 4–6: Cluster-corrected versions of the above three maps (Figure 4, black outline). File 7: Map of neural changes between Scan 1 (2019) and Scan 2 (2021), divided into three bins of difference magnitude. (Corresponds to Figure 3 in the paper.)
