Intentionally not imitating: Insula cortex engaged for top-down control of action mirroring

Description: Functional imaging dataset for an action execution and observation task. Task details have been published, Open Access: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.neuropsychologia.2018.01.037 In brief: on each trial a word cued a response (four possible cues: 'Open' 'Close' 'Copy' 'Oppose'), which was performed at the onset of movement in a video stimulus. This video was of a hand making an 'opening' or 'closing' gesture. If the cue was open/close the stimulus was incidental to the response executed; if the cue was copy or oppose the participant had to intentionally imitate or counter-imitate the observed action. The participants were healthy young adults recruited via university advertising on psychology department paid participant pool. Due to ethics of privacy only group-level data will be made available.
