Placebo Analgesia Does Not Reduce Empathy for Naturalistic Depictions of Others’ Pain in a Somatosensory Specific Way

Description: This collection contains the statistical maps of a picture-based empathy for pain task. We induced a localized, first-hand placebo analgesia effect in the right hand of 45 participants by means of a placebo gel and conditioning techniques, and compared this to the left hand as a control condition. Participants then underwent task in the MRI scanner, where they observed pictures of right vs. left hands in pain.
